IGIC Emerging Professional Research Competition

To celebrate Indiana's talented young GIS scholars and emerging professionals, the Indiana Geographic Information Council invited students to submit abstracts for IGIC's first-ever Emerging Professional Research Competition. From the 15 submissions, 11 students competed in a live competition via Zoom on December 19. Congratulations to our 2022 winners: 

  • 1st Place

    Elissa Day, Indiana University Bloomington

    Graduation date: 2023. Research interests: environments of ancient Egypt, coastal erosion, cultural heritage, maritime heritage, birds and seabirds.

    Gaia Cervini, Purdue University

    Expected graduation date: Spring 2025. Research interests: sustainable and resilient urban development, GIS and remote sensing applications.

    Lena Azimi, Purdue University

    Expected graduation date: May 2025.
