Gateway to Geospatial:
Tools and Tips for Your Career

Located in the Gateway City, the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency is the largest piece of the industry and is currently in the process of building a new campus north of downtown Saint Louis that is slated to open in 2025. Paired with a growing infrastructure and community outreach, Saint Louis is emerging as the geospatial hub for the US.  This growth is leading to an increasing number of geospatial opportunities.  For those looking at a career in the geospatial industry or are curious to know more about it, we will discuss a variety of tools we use and that could become beneficial in your endeavors with a career in this part of the GIS world. This industry is ever changing, so we must keep adapting to its change to create better and more efficient solutions.

Presenter: My name is Ashley Poling and I am a 2008 graduate of Valparaiso University where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Geoscience.  I am originally from Merrillville, Ind. and currently live in Saint Louis where I work for a small geospatial company called T-Kartor USA as the Quality Assurance Manager and have been there since 2016. Prior to T-Kartor USA, I worked as a geospatial analyst from 2008-16 for another small geospatial mapping company called Wiser, located in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Combined, I have over 13 years of experience in the geospatial industry with experience at production, quality control, and management levels.
