Joining the IGIC Board of Directors

The state legislature has designated the Indiana Geographic Information Council (IGIC) as the State of Indiana’s coordinator of GIS.

The IGIC Board of Directors consists of 25 members representing 13 different sectors across Indiana. A Board Member's term is three years. Members shall not serve more than two consecutive terms unless uncontested. IGIC nominates and elects one-third of its Board members annually in December and January.

Board Member Responsibilities: IGIC Board Members must be current members. Board Members are expected to attend all Board meetings (usually five per year), serve on at least one IGIC committee or workgroup per year, and communicate with their representative sector regarding geospatial issues. Board members also perform GIS outreach, and act as moderators at the Annual GIS Conference.

2025 IGIC Nomination Request Form

Nomination deadline is January 31, 2025

IGIC requires that board members also be IGIC members and pay membership. IGIC Corporate Members nominate an employee to fill the Commercial GIS Service Provider seats. The IGIC Board meets every month, on the first Thursday.

We also ask that board members serve on at least one committee or workgroup per year. IGIC has many committees/workgroups and most meet virtually.

IGIC board members are also expected to attend the annual GIS Conference which in 2025 will be held in Indianapolis on May 20-22.
