Building our GIS Learning Community Together:
Scholarship and Educational Opportunities

Friday, February 18, 2:00 - 3:00 pm ET

In this webinar, I want to connect with the IGIC community about the GIS scholarship and educational opportunities available at IndianaView Program and Purdue University.

IndianaView program is a part of the AmericaView Consortium since 2004, with Purdue University as the lead institution. The purpose of IndianaView Program is to promote sharing and use of public domain geospatial information (remotely sensed image data) for education, research and outreach across universities, colleges, K-12 educators and state and local governments. Each year, IndianaView supports student scholarships and mini-grant projects to benefit Indiana. We encourage applications from all the Indiana GIS professionals and students!

This webinar will also introduce you the GIS learning resources at Purdue University. Being part of the Esri Innovation Program, Purdue University started to offer Graduate Certificate Program in GIS (Geospatial Information Science) from 2021, with the goal to provide learning opportunities for learners in different disciplines with different learning needs. Various learning options will be introduced. Feedbacks are welcome to help us shaping the program to better fit your learning needs!

Presenter: Nicole Kong is the Associate Dean for Research and an Associate Professor in GIS at Purdue University Libraries and School of Information Studies. She is the coordinator for IndianaView program, which includes 16 institutions in the consortium. At Purdue University, she worked with a group of faculty members and created the Graduate Certificate Program in GIS in 2021.
