Mission

To maintain uniform geographic name usage throughout the state for use by local, State, and Federal government.

• Define and govern appropriate procedures for naming and renaming geographic features.
• Provide recommendations to the U.S. Board on Geographic Names regarding Indiana names for official use.
• Review proposed name changes and provide response as requested to the U.S. Board on Geographic Names.
